What is a natal chart?
A natal chart is a map of the sky from your birth date, time and place: planets, Ascendant and twelve houses. It is not a daily Sun-sign horoscope or a quiz.

Natal chart vs horoscope
A natal chart is your birth-sky map from date, time and place. A horoscope is usually a Sun-sign column. They are not the same reading and should not be swapped.

What is my sun sign?
Your Sun sign is the tropical zodiac sign the Sun occupied on your birth date. You usually do not need a birth time. It is one placement, not the whole natal chart.

Sun, Moon and rising: the Big Three
The Big Three are Sun, Moon and rising sign. Sun from the date, Moon from date plus a check on time, rising only with birth time and place. Read them together.

What is my rising sign?
Your rising sign is the zodiac degree on the eastern horizon at birth — the Ascendant. It needs an accurate birth time and place. Without a birth time, skip it.

What is a Moon sign?
Your Moon sign is the tropical sign the Moon occupied at birth. It changes every two and a half days. Time still matters for the degree, the house and cusp days.

What is a Venus sign?
Your Venus sign is the tropical sign Venus occupied at birth. It describes style in attraction, taste and values — a natal coordinate, not a dating verdict.

What is a Mercury sign?
Your Mercury sign is the tropical sign Mercury occupied at birth. Mercury stays near the Sun, so the signs match or neighbour. Time still sets house and degree.

What is a Mars sign?
Your Mars sign is the tropical sign Mars occupied at birth. It describes how the chart starts, argues and pursues — a natal coordinate, not a licence for conflict.

Why does birth time matter for a natal chart?
Birth time sets the Ascendant, houses and the Moon’s degree. A twenty-minute error can change the rising sign. Without a time you get planetary signs, not houses.

Can I make a birth chart without a birth time?
Yes: planetary signs and aspects still calculate without a birth time. The Ascendant and houses do not. Do not treat a noon chart as a full natal map of houses.

How to read a natal chart
Read a natal chart in order: Big Three, occupied houses, then tightest aspects. Use the tables as the instrument. Unknown time means skip houses and the Ascendant.

What are houses in a birth chart?
Houses are twelve local sectors of the birth sky, not zodiac signs. They need a birth time. SideraChart defaults to Placidus; unknown time means no honest houses.

What are empty houses in a birth chart?
An empty house has no planet sitting in it. It is not a missing area of life. You still need a birth time to know which houses are empty; noon charts fake the gaps.

What are aspects in astrology?
Aspects are named angles between planets along the ecliptic: conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition. SideraChart uses orbs of 8°, 6° and 4° for those five.

Tropical vs sidereal zodiac
Tropical zodiac starts at the March equinox. Sidereal uses a star zero point, about 24° away today. SideraChart is tropical only — not Vedic, not Swiss Ephemeris.

Synastry vs composite chart
Synastry overlays two natal charts and lists aspects between them. A composite chart averages longitudes into a third wheel. They answer different questions.

What are transits in astrology?
Transits are today’s positions compared with your natal chart. They are weather against a fixed baseline, not a new birth chart. SideraChart stores them at noon.
